Vilanova i la Geltrú is one of the few places in Spain where Franco's could not stop the people enjoying Carnival celebrations. Like Tenerife and Cadiz, Vilanova enjoyed carnivals all through the dictators reign. The Carnival we celebrate in the town is the traditional carnival that our grandparents and great-grandparents celebrated.
