Ribadavia Festa da Historia - History FestivalFiesta of Ribadavia History Aug 27, 2011The local people of Ribadavia take you back to the Middle Ages for a day. Every year on the last Saturday in August find out what it was like to be in Ribadavia in the medieval times. This unique fiesta recreates the medieval Jewish atmosphere of the village. An extraordinary celebration, dating back to 1693, is a major event in the village, with the vast majority of residents taking part. Ribadavians dress up in old costumes; knights and puppeteers fill the streets; there is a representation of a Jewish wedding, and master craftsmen offer their wares in a street market. This trip back to the Middle Ages is so authentic that on this day the currency used is even the old Maravedí.
