Music and charity work Exhibition
International Iberian Music Institute
La Beneficencia Centre, Valencia, Spain

An exhibition of photographs about music and cooperation taken by Vicente Martín, an exhibition of images by Jarit and another of musical instruments, as well as views on the role of music and the performing arts in the social life of developing countries, make up the programme of the Cooperating with development through music conference organised by the IIMI, International Iberian Music Institute, an NGO devoted to bringing people together through music.
 
 
 

The two exhibitions open at La Beneficencia centre on May 5th and offer both spectacular images and musical instruments. The conference takes place from May 7th-8th and consists of talks and debates on musical education, the experiences of the NGOs, cultural cooperation for development from public bodies and the projection of the documentary Tocar y luchar (Play and struggle).

The conference will be attended by musicians and voluntary workers, such as the guitarist Rafael Serrallet, the composer David Gálvez, the organist Juan de la Rubia, the sopranos Samira Kadine and Marisol Boullosa, the percussionist Jesús Salvador Chapi, the voluntary worker for music in Bolivia Diego Alamar, the cultural manager of the AECI, the Spanish International Cooperation Agency, Mónica Paler and Juan José Morte, international cooperation expert at the Valencian Regional Government. As well as the above experts, we should also mention Nai Barghouti, an 11-year-old Palestinian girl with innate talent for music who has attended the IIMI classes and, despite her youth, is an extraordinary
