MOORS AND CHRISTIANS
CASTALLA
From 1st September to the 4th September. PROGRAMMING 25th AUGUST - "Exaltació festera" 22'30hrs: In honour of the 2007 captains, "Angels de la Rodella and Pregó", they will be introduced in the Main Square (plaza Major). 31st AUGUST - "The Olleta day" At 21'00 hrs: Entrance of the official participating bands in the high street (calle mayor). Dinner and parade through the entire Village. 1st SEPTEMBER - "The entrance" At 12'00hrs: From the townhall balcony, and presided over by the town Authorities, Angelus prayer, and salute the Queen of the fiestas and Mayor of Castalla, followed by the “Mascletada” and “L’Arranc” of the music bands, participating in the competition of interpretation. At 17:00hrs:”ENTRANCE OF THE MOORS & CHRISTIANS” following the traditional itinerary. At 22:00hrs: The “Baixà the la Virgin” procession will take place, starting at the Sang Ermitage and will be accompanied by the troops and gun fire finishing at the Parish Church 2nd SEPTEMBER - "First day of thunder" At 8:00hrs: General peels of Bells and Diana alert by the bands of music. At 9'00hrs: Troop Mass, Christian faction in the Parish church and Moor faction in the Convent.Misa de Comparsas. At 11'00hrs: Holy high mass in the parish church of “Ntra. Sra. De la Soledad”. At 12'00hrs: Parade with gunfire, of all the Christian factions from the Church to the Main Square. Parade of local Authorities accompanied by Guard of Honour, followed by the “Ballà de Banderes” (flag bearers). The Moor faction will leave from the Convent to the Main Square. At 17'00hrs: ”Warfare” Moors and Christian combat, led by the Marine troops, Christians, Grocs Moors and Mudéjares in the plaza Era dels Cavalls, confronting bands. The Masero troops, pirates and ancient Moors, starting from the Portal of Onil. Finishing in the Casa del Fester, with the Moor ambassador s and the Christian surrender . At 20:30hrs: Traditional procession of the Our patron the Holy Virgen of the Soledad. Presided by the local Authorities and accompanied by all the troops with their corresponding musical bands. 3rd SEPTEMBER - "Day of Offering" At 8'00hrs: Peels of bells and Diana alert from all music bands. At 9'00hrs: Troop Mass. Moor faction in the Parish church and Christian faction in Convent. At 11'00hrs: High Mass in the Parish Chruch of Our Sra de la Soledad. At 12'30hrs: Junior parade from the Avd Republica Argentian to the Main square. Followed by the “Ballà de les banderes” (flag bearers) all Junior Captains, followed by the presentation of a diploma to the winning band in the “Arranc” day competition. At 19'00hrs: Grand parade of all the Troops beginning in the calle Cervantes. Passing by the Av Republica Argentina ending in the Parish temple with the traditional Offering of flowers to our Patron St. 4th SEPTEMBER - "Second day of thunder" At 8'00hrs: Peels of bells and Diana alert from all music bands. At 9'00hrs: Troop Mass. Moor faction in the Parish church and Christian faction in Convent. At 11'00hrs: High Mass in the Parish Chruch of Our Sra de la Soledad. At 12'00hrs: Parade with gunfire of all the Moor troops from the Church to the Main square, parade of local Authorities accompanied by guard of Honour, followed by the “Balla de Banderes” (flag bearers). The Christian faction leave from the Convent to the Main square. Followed by the presentation of the captains for the coming year, parading with gunfire and finishing with the Captains bearing their flags. At 17'00hrs: "Warfare” Moors and Christian combat, led by the Marine troops, Christians, Grocs Moors and Mudéjares, starting from the Portal of Onil. Finishing with the” Christian ambassadors and the Moor surrender in the Casa of the Fester Castle. At 20'30hrs: Parade of la “Pujada” leaving the Parish Church, accompanied by Authorities, troops and musical bands in solemn farewell procession of the Patron st. arriving at the Placeta de Carreter. Performance of the closure song. The parade finishes in the Ermita de la Preciosísima Sangre. 5th SEPTEMBER. 21'30hrs: Spectacular firawork display, to end these marvellous fiestas of Moors and Christians in Castalla.
