First held in 1912, and is part part of the European Professional Circuit, the PGA (Professional Golf Association).
Throughout the year, Spain also hosts another three events on the circuit: the Volvo World Match Championship (Malaga); the Madrid Masters (Madrid); and the Castellón Masters Costa Azahar (Castellón).
