Fiesta del Bollo
La Fiesta del Bollo (Pastry Festival) is celebrated in the village of Avilés, Asturias . 5th to 12 April 2009
The feast is celebrated on Easter Sunday and Monday is the culmination of the celebrations of Easter in the village.
The party was founded in the late nineteenth century to celebrate brotherhood and Asturian folk lore and traditions. A special pastry is associated with the event; bun like a cake of butter with sugar in a star pattern, which is given by the godparents to their godchildren on Easter Sunday.
The Fraternity of the Bollo offers the solemn mass in the church of San Nicolás de Bari.
On Easter Monday the city is celebrates with traditional food eaten in a mass picnic in the central squares and streets.Avilés Town Hall
