L'Oceanogrāfic de la Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias
Valencia
7th-11th May 2008

The seas and oceans of our planet at the 1st Festival Internacional de Imagen Submarina de l'Oceanogrāfic

L'Oceanogrāfic de la Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias will be hosting the Festival Internacional de Imagen Submarina (FIIS) from May 7th-11th. The festival will offer films and photographs taken beneath our seas and oceans by internationally-renowned professionals.

The festival underlines L'Oceanogrāfic's commitment to preserving and respecting the marine environment and the competition will have two categories - underwater video and photography. The competing documentaries will be shown in the Red Sea Auditorium over the five days of the festival, while the best photos received will be on display throughout L'Oceanogrāfic.

Conferences, round tables and workshops will be held in collaboration with renowned experts and professionals associated with the world of underwater exploration and filming. The festival will also present the Cinesub underwater film mini-festival, showing films that have received awards at other Spanish and International festivals.

The Festival is designed for all videosubs, photosubs, video-artists, video producers, cinema producers, TV producers, TV channels, photographers, production companies, diving clubs, schools, and the general public.

The jury will be made up of such well-known professionals as Manu San Félix, the first Spanish photographer to win the Gold Diver award at the 5th World Festival of Underwater Pictures in 2005, as well as the BBC video producer Andy Byatt. Also present will be Leandro Blanco, 8-times winner in different categories at the Antibes Festival.
