OFICIAL FIESTA PROGRAMME PURÍSSIMA XIQUETA 2008 PROGRAMMING From 25th April untill 4th May OFICIAL FIESTA PROGRAMME PURÍSSIMA XIQUETA 2008 Friday, 25th: FIESTA QUEENS CORONATION DAY 9:00 p.m. Parade of "festeros" and the Sociedad Lírica Musical de Benissa, Agrupación Músical Municipal Xaló, Poble Nou de Benitatxell, Orba, Gandía and Xirimiters Pere Bigot bands. 10:00 p.m. Gathering of "festeros", authorities and Fiesta Queens of neighboring towns at the Town Hall . 10:30 p.m. The Fiesta Queens 2007: Miss Nekane Soto Serra & Miss Andrea Baydal NogalCoronation Ceremony. In the Paseo Dolores Piera The ceremony will be followed with the SALSETA DEL POBLE SEC band. Saturday 26th : FLORAL OFFERING DAY 8:30 a.m. Religious ceremony in honor of the patroness. 10:30 a.m. Children's Playground in the Glorieta Dolores Piera. 1:00 p.m.. "Entrada de la Murta" traditional parade with bell ringing and the music of the "colla de Xirimiters Pere Bigot" and the "Sociedad Lírica Musical de Benissa" bands. 5:30 p.m. Gathering at the Convent square for the floral offering procession. 6:00 p.m. Floral Offering to the "Puríssima Xiqueta" Virgin Mary and the giving of medals to the members of the 2008 Fiesta Committee. 9:00 p.m. Evening Mass. 12:30 p.m. Fantastic firework display by DRAGÓN Pyrotechnics In the avenida de l'Alcudia. 1:30 a.m. Concert with "JARABE DE PALO" and the "CLUB VIRGINIA" band in the paseo Dolores Piera. Sunday, 27th : PURÍSSIMA XIQUETA'S DAY 8 a.m. The day starts with the ringing of bells and band parades. 10 a.m. Parade with "festeros" with bands and the "Colla de Xirimiters Pere Bigot". 11 a.m. Gathering of bands, "festeros", maids of honour and escorts, and authorities at the Town Hall. 11:30 a.m. Holy Mass and Sermon in honor of Benissa's Patrones the "Puríssima Xiqueta", sung by the Coral Benissenca choir conducted by Javier Santacreu. After mass, visit to the "San Joaquín y Santa Ana" Old Peoples Home and parades. 2 p.m. "Mascletà" (noisy firework display) in the paseo Dolores Piera by Pirotecnia Dragón. 7 p.m. Evening Mass with the bringing down of the image and procession in honor of the "Puríssima Xiqueta". Once the image of the Purísima Xiqueta has been returned to the Altar the DRAGÓN Pyrotechnics will let of a spectacular firework display. 12:30 a.m. Concert by "EFECTO MARIPOSA" In the paseo Dolores Piera. To end the night's fun Mobile Disco with DJ by "40 principales" Monday, 28 th : "RIBERER" DAY 8 a.m. The day starts with the ringing of bells and band parades. 10 a.m. Parade with "festeros", bands and the "Colla de Xirimiters Pere Bigot". 10:30 a.m. Children's playground in the Paseo Dolores Piera sponsored by BANCAJA 11 a.m. Gathering "festeros" and authorities at the Town Hall. 11:30 a.m. Holy Mass and Sermon in honor of Benissa'a Patroness, the "Puríssima Xiqueta", sung by the "Coral Benissenca" choir conducted by Javier Santacreu. 1:30 p.m. The Fiesta Queens will place a wreath of flowers at the Riberero where tribute will be given all Benissa's men, both living and dead, that in the past work in the rice fields of the Ribera region of Valencia. Riberero's Memorial Speech by Tere Crespo. Court to the Ribereros Francisco Planells Ivars & Jaime Ferrer Ausina. 2 p.m. "Mascletà" noisy firework display will be let off in the paseo Dolores Piera by DRAGONS pirotécnics. 6:30 p.m. Parade of floats with the participation of the bands, the Chanranga and the Colla de Xirimiters "Pere Bigot". At the end, prize giving for the best float in the Paseo Dolores Piera. 8 p.m. Entertainment for children with "MEGANIMALS" by Fresa Producciones in the paseo Dolores Piera. 8:30 p.m. Mass and sermon. 12 p.m. Traditional song in honor of the "Puríssima Xiqueta" at the house where Joan Vives lived in the Puríssima Street. 1:30 a.m. Firework display let off by Pirotécnica DRAGÓN in paseo Dolores Piera. Later, live music with the "Ying Yang" band. Tuesday, 29th: BACHELORS DAY 10:30 a.m. Children's playground in the Paseo Dolores Piera. 11:30 a.m. Traditional games in the plaza Rey Jaime I. 12 p.m. Festival PERE BIGOT, Bachelors Day in the Paseo Dolores Piera. 6:30 p.m. Fun parade with prizes for the best fancy dress costumes. 6 p.m. Feast Mass 7:30 p.m. Free snack in the Plaza Jaume I. 8 p.m. Entertainment for children with "XIP XAP" with their show "QUE PETE LA PLAZA" in the Plaza Jaume I. 11:30 p.m. Live music with "MEDIA ROCK". Wednesday, 30th: 6:00 p.m. Feast Mass. 6:30 p.m. Traditional entry of bulls and cows from the VICENTE MACHANCOSES ranch followed by bull running with cattle from the BENAVENT ranch. 10:30 p.m. "Correfoc" fireworks, music and fun through the streets by La Colla Dimonis Emplomats from Beneixama. 11:30 p.m. Bull running with the cattle from VICENTE MACHANCOSES ranch. Entry of "embolada" (flaming horns) cattle from the VICENTE MACHANCOSES ranch, under the auspices of Bar La Raspa. To end the night's fun Mobile Disco with the DJ Kike Jaén Thursday, 1st may: 12:00 p.m. Bull running with the cattle from COVES ranch. 6:00 p.m. Feast Mass. 6:30 p.m. Traditional entry of bulls and cows from the BENAVENT ranch followed by bull running with cattle from the VICENTE MACHANCOSES ranch. 11:30 p.m. Bull running with cattle from COVES ranch. Entry of "embolada" (flaming horns) cattle from the same ranch, under the auspices of Grupo Hocedesa. Friday, 2nd may: BULL RUNNING 6:00 p.m. Feast Mass. 6:30 p.m. . Traditional entry of bulls and cows from the La Paloma ranch. 11:00 p.m. Traditional entry of bulls and cows from the COVES ranch from the Puríssima Xiqueta street followed by bull running with cattle from BENAVENT ranch. Entry of "embolada" (flaming horns) sponsored by The President of the Commission Puríssima Xiqueta's Fiesta 2008. To end the night's fun Mobile Disco with the DJ Javi Boss Saturday, 3rd : AÑADAS DAY 9 a.m. Entry of bulls in the street from the La Paloma ranch followed by bull running from the same ranch. 12:00 p.m. Entry of Calves for Children with surprise followed by Calves for Children in the Plaza Rei Jaume I. 2 p.m. Lunch for all the different year groups in the glorieta Dolores Piera. Giant paella sponsored by Mas y Mas Supermarket and Festeros 2008. Live music by MODENA band. 7 p.m. Parade of "añadas" year groups. 8:30 p.m. Feast Mass. 10:30 p.m. Bull running from the PALOMA ranch. SUNDAY, 4th :EIGHTH DAY 8 a.m The last day of the fiesta starts with the ringing of bells and band parades. 10 a.m. Parade of "festeros" with bands and the Colla de Xirimiters "Pere Bigot". 11 a.m. Gathering of public, musical bands, "festeros", maids of honour and escorts, dignitaries at the Town Hall. 11:30 a.m. Mass sung by the "Orfeon Choir", sponsored by the "Diputación Provincial de Alicante". 1:30 p.m. Parade of " festeros" maids of honour and escorts with bands anr the Colla de Xirimiters "Pere Bigot". 2 p.m. "Mascletà" noisy firework display let off by Pirotécnica DRAGÓN 6:30 p.m. Entertainment for children with Puppetry. 7 p.m. Feast mass. 8 p.m. Concert called "OMA-JOMA" by Ferran Ferrando (OMA- Orquesta Marina Alta) & Francesc Estévez (JOMA- Joven Orquesta Marina Alta). 12 p.m. Grand Final Festival by XARXA TEATRE, with the spectacle called TOMBATOSSAL, sponsored by the Benissa's Town Hall.
