If you're looking for the best places to visit in Barcelona, then you are spoilt for choice but if we might suggest why not have a walk around the Gothic quarter of Barcelona, start at the amazing Casa Battlo, a Gaudi creation on Paseo de Gracia street, just in the centre of Barcelona amidst the narrow medieval narrow streets of this historic area. Stop off  at the impressive cathedral and the ancient buildings around it which include the Romanesque church of Santa Llucia, the City Hall and more. Then carry on and enjoy the antique dealers, bookshops, restaurants, and unusual shops which abound in this historical community.
Do you like wrought iron? We have the world's largest collection of wrought iron works at Museo Cau Ferrat - Cau Ferrat .
Textiles are your thing- don't miss the textile museum in Terrassa
( Centro de Documentación y Museo Textil ). You clever science types are not forgotten try
Museo de la Ciencia y de la Técnica de Cataluña.

When reading about the best places to visit in Barcelona every piece of literature on Barcelona says that you should visit  Las Ramblas; it's a bit obvious a lot like saying when in London you should visit Oxford, Street, Regent Street, Piccadilly, Jermyn Street and Green Park and don't forget to see Clarence House and St. James Palace as you pass, them. Or you might say if you're in Hong Kong have a trot down Nathan Road. La Ramblas is a long pedestrian street with traditional shops, cafe's, street entertainer's and a great place to people watch; so Las Ramblas, Barcelona is OK if you like that sort of thing.
You will also find the fresh market of “la Boqueria” here a typical Spanish fresh food market with its cheese's, sausage's, ( Spanish salchitas are just superb, try as many as you can afford) fruit and of course the fish.
Like most Spanish markets the fish are still alive and gasping on the display.

To pick out high lights for the best places to visit in Barcelona depends on your taste; if you like sport the 'Barcelona FC museum' and 'The Barcelona Olympic Village' would be of interest. If you like theatre the world class theatres in Barcelona are 'Palua de la Musica Catalana' and
the 'Gran Teatre del Liceu' and are a must. There are more church's in Barcelona than you can shake a stick at, some of them more famous than others because of the architect such as - The architect Antonio Gaudi built the world famous Church of the Sacred Family (Sagrada Familia).
The beaches and natural parks are to die for and should be included in the best places to visit in Barcelona so by all means do the tourist thing and the photo shoots at The Ramblas and the Gaudi architecture but Barcelona is more than that. Check out the concerts and the live music and the real theatre, get into the back streets, find a tapas bar that the locals use and sample the delights over a lazy experimental meal. As for wine ask for the local wines from the prestigious wine region of Penedes
(una botella de los locales barcelona vino, vino el Penedès)
