The Three Wise Men visit Alcoy 5 January 2009 Alcoy lives a different kind of Christmas. The Three Wise Men Alcoy parade, a festivity of National Touristic Interest now over 100 years old, is one of the oldest in Spain. This great street spectacle starts on January 4th with the opening speech known as the "Ban", in which the Royal Ambassador announces the arrival of the Three Wise Men. After the announcement, the little ones deliver their letters to the Wise Men and introduce them in the donkeys' saddlebags to be delivered that same night. On January 5th, the Three Wise Men arrive in town with hundreds of presents accompanied by their entourage, surrounded by a magical and fascinating aura. The so-called negres climb long stairs to reach the balconies and deliver presents to the children. The parade is an unforgettable and moving event for all in attendance. Come to the Three Wise Men Alcoy parade and let your dreams come true! Back |
