The Guadalest Valley has some of Spain's best adventure climbing. Climbs in Spain. Spanish climbing. Mountain climbing in Spain. Rock climbing in Spain. There is also easy access to many well developed sports (bolted) crags such as Sella and Toix. Just a few minutes walk from the house are the recently developed El Flare routes with around 80 sport and trad routes. The Guadalest bolted routes (also good for bouldering) are just 15 minutes away.  The Puig Campana which boasts classic mountain routes of all grades is only 40 minutes drive away. The crags around Sax and Alcoy are all within one hours drive. In fact just about all the venues featured in the Costa Blanca Rockfax guide are within 60 minutes drive time.

Climbing is possible all year, even on the mountain crags. In summer, although the heat around midday can be fierce, climbing on North facing crags is very pleasant as the humidity is usually very low. It's also possible to climb morning and evening even on South facing crags. Midday can be spent at one of the fantastic local pools or you could even do one of the classic local canyon trips .

There are several guide books to the area, the best being the RockFax Costa Blanca  guide It contains over 42 major venues including 11 which have never appeared in a Rockfax before. The book is in full colour throughout with a complete set of new photo-topos for every crag.

Online topos are also available at www.compasswest.co.uk. Compass West run week long climbing courses and also offer guiding on an individual basis. They are by far the most experienced climbing school in the area.

There are several climbing shops in the area. "Sprinter" at the Marina complex close to Carrefour at Benidorm/Finestrat have some products. There is also a good climbing shop in Calpe. At the top end of the main street. Boreal boots are priced well.

Compass West
This area is an amazing paradise for rock climbing, mountaineering and outdoor pursuits.
Our courses and holidays in Spain take place in this very playground in the South Eastern Sierras, situated between Valencia and Murcia. With it's easy access by flights from the U.K and Northern Europe. This area has one of the, if not the, best winter climates in Europe (Average Temp: Dec - March 70F/22C). It is ideal for those who long to get away from the inhospitable climate of our Northern winters which inhibits climbing so much. Having reliable weather is a pre-requirment for a successful completion of any climbing programme.

Climbing in the Costa Blanca is on superb Limestone crags and mountains. The climbing takes place on road side crags of up to five hundred feet and on mountain routes of 3,000 feet plus. These mountains are of Dolomite proportions This variety makes the area ideal for teaching beginners basic skills and for coaching the experienced climber more advanced skills. It also makes it excellent for those choosing the selected weeks for long multi pitch Mountain Rock Courses.

Rockfax
The Costa Blanca has been long known as one of the best destinations anywhere in the world for winter sun rock and nowadays it attracts visitors from all over the world. Climbs in Spain. Spanish climbing. Mountain climbing in Spain. Rock climbing in Spain. Although the area is most popular as a ‘sun and chips’ venue, the summer’s here are HOT, crowded and expensive and only mad dogs and Englishmen would try to climb in the peak holiday season. At other times of the year though the area has the almost ideal combination of a mild climate, well established infrastructure, cheap flights from most of Europe and of course masses of high quality limestone - the real white gold. The thrill of stepping on a plane on a grey English morning and emerging two and a half hours later in bright Spanish sunshine still takes some beating. More and more climbers make the regular exodus and head south for a mid-winter tonic.

Talisman
Holiday hot rock climbing courses to the main sport climbing areas in Spain are organised every year during April, October and November. Climbs in Spain. Spanish climbing. Mountain climbing in Spain.Rock climbing in Spain. At this time of year Spain enjoys pleasant sunny shorts and tee shirt weather around 20 C without the severe heat of the summer and benefits from low season air travel and accommodation prices. What more could we ask for on a rock climbing holiday or course in Spain....oh yes swimming pool, cheap food and Spanish wine...cheers!
