Campus Party 2007 with free software

The Campus Party is known as the biggest computer science celebration in network of the world, where thousands of participants are connected during tens of hours in a row in front of a computer, demonstrating that the human factor is the heart of the event; the screen of the computer comes to life under the logo "Internet is not a computers network, Internet is a network of people".

In this edition, the Campus Party makes a strong bet on Free Software since it is a key factor for the development and the future of computer science and the information society. Therefore, this year they have increased the amount as much as the quality of the activities related to Free Software, like workshops and cryptography and security contests; and, as it happens every year, they will have gurus like Jon ` Maddog' Hall, Marcello Tosatti and Mark Shuttleworth, among others, as speakers and collaborators, all of them with huge international prestige.

The Campus Party grows in size and contents this year. Games of action and strategy, sport and simulation, the CampusCrea, Astronomy, CampusBot, Modding, Developers, games, simulation and free software are some of the participative areas that are part of it.

This event was born in 1997, prior to the constitution of the E3 Futura Association, promoted by some of its present bosses, in the town of Mollina, Malaga. From its beginning, the event has a generalist and formative character, and it puts the different platforms and groups from the world of computer science together, summoning them to create a propitious meeting point to interchange ideas and knowledge.

Historically, the Campus Party has had a great popularity, an unconditional implication of public and private institutions, and an extraordinary repercussion in the mass media that, year after year, guarantee with their presence the interest of public in general.
