Quality Artisanal Sausage Fair of Requena
Requena, Valencia
8th to 11th February

From 8th to 11th February sample all the traditional gastronomic products of this district at this already traditional winter event.
Organised by the Requena Town Council in collaboration with the Regulating Council of the Protected Geographical Indication, Requena Sausage, and about ten of the town's butcher's shops, as well as the Tyrius Housewives Association, the traditional Quality Artisanal Sausage Fair of Requena is to be held between the 8th and the 11th February, this being its fourteenth year.
The fair is located in the marquees set up in the square known as Plaza de Juan Grandía and the avenue called Avenida de Arrabal (next to the Monumento Universal a la Vendimia - Universal Monument to Grape Harvesting), with opening hours on Thursday 8th February from 8 to 9pm, while on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday opening hours will be from 10am to 9pm.

At this fair the attending public can sample traditional products such as the sausages, wines and baker's products, through the purchasing of tickets.

To mark the occasion of the fair a programme of festive events has been prepared, this includes passacaglia, musical shows and street entertainment, concerts, a contest of cornet and drum bands, pyrotechnical shows, dances, cutters' contests or roast pig tasting and barbequed fresh sausage tasting.

There will also be re-enactments of the traditional slaughtering season, the International Brotherhood of Rice will be offering tastings of Arroz de Matanza (Slaughtering Season Rice) and there will also be a tourist marquee set up with the name of The Tunnel of Sensations.

In the exhibition site one can enjoy the children's attraction park and during the days of the fair one can also undertake visits to the caves of the town, to the "Florencio de la Fuente" Museum of Contemporary Art, to the Municipal Museum, to the Caserío de Cisternas (Country House of Cisterns) Museum, to the Iberian Fauna Nature Park, to the Natural Park of Hoces del Cabriel, as well as different exhibition halls and wine cellars of the Utiel-Requena Denominación de Origen (quality food and wine certificate).
