The Madrid en Danza International Dance Festival is an event that attracts numerous dance companies from all over the world, encompassing the full range of dance styles, from classical to avant-garde, and a wide variety of national and international programmes. A unique feature of The Madrid en Danza International Dance Festival is that it includes Spanish and flamenco dance. 7-29 April 2008. Countries represented this year include UK, Taiwan, Ireland, Canada, Senegal, Germany and Italy. “Madrid en Danza 2008”. A brilliant 26 dance events, the festival includes “Cof and Corff” by the Eddie Ladd Company from Wales (9-11 April), flamenco dance/theatre “Nanas para despertar” from the acclaimed Malucos Danza troupe (18-20 & 26 April), the Spanish première of the Senegalese Jant-Bi company’s “Waxtaan” (24-26 April) and the Ballet de la Ópera de Leipzig (25-27 April). On the last day a dance marathon in Plaza de Oriente featuring six Spanish dance companies including Compañíadehecho, Lorenzo León & Co, Anuska Alonso and Ángel Bleda (29 April from 18.00 - admission free). Festival venues include the Teatro Albéniz, Teatro Fernán Gómez, Sala Cuarta Pared, Teatro Pradillo and Teatro de Madrid as well as local municipal theatres.
