On the night before San Andrés day in Icod de los Vinos, the local winemakers open their bodegas for people to try the new wines of the year.
Traditionally, the drinks are accompanied by salt fish and roasted chestnuts, as well as evening entertainment in the form of local dances: isas, folias and malagueñas.

This evening is also known by locals as the Fiesta de Las Tablas (Festival of the Boards), referring to the unusual activity carried out by the young people of the town every year. They sledge down hills stretched out on wooden boards greased with tar, imitating how their ancestors used to transport wood to the carpenters' workshops in the lower part of town.
