Festival in honour of Our Lady of Martyrs. On the 10th there is a traditional procession down to the river with beautifully decorated carts, where there is a stock fair during the festival, including a traditional stock market. Numerous activities are offered during the fair for adults and children, unique in the Alpujarras, the night time dances are famous in the caseta type dance hall installed on the fairground. The festival ends with the procession of the image of Our Lady of Martyrs is on the 14th, she is the Patroness of the Alpujarra. The tradition demands that the procession enters and leaves the church, carried by local people from Ugíjar and on route, people from the different villages in the Alpujarra take turns to carry their Patroness
