Valencia
Maybe the city of the
future in Spain and Europe. Amazing architecture, fantastic climate and
just so much going on from Grand Prix Formula 1 Street Circuit, to the
Americas Cup Yacht Races. So much more. The city that was helped to be
founded by retiring Roman Empire soldiers is now a much sought after
holiday destination.
The Amazing Fallas/
Fires
In March in the
Valencia Region and also in July in Alicante, they have huge festivals,
everyone dresses up in traditional costumes and they party all through
the night steadily burning the fallas, enormous effigies.
The best things
to see in Spain. The bands march and play, the streets are filled with
noisy raucous people. Their are fireworks everywhere, fireworks so
wonderful it's hard to believe.
It's hard to
tell from photo's but these are towering figure's some 60-70 foot high
and they burn them. It's just such a fantastic spectacle unlike anything
else anywhere in the world. The various societies spend all year making
these effigies, some are incredibly crude and then they burn them in one
night. This is true entertainment in Spain. The Valencia fallas is a
massive event and the crowds are huge, try one of the smaller towns in
Valencia region such as Denia which is a festival rich town and the
fallas crowds not so large but the spectacle is equally impressive. The
little one's are well catered for with children's falls being burnt
earlier in the evening.
The Alicante
version is:-
Las Hogueras
de San Juan
including bull fights

Again in
Valencia, if you thought the Fallas were incredible then wait until
you've seen 'La Tomatina', talk about Entertainment in Spain and the
best things to see in Spain, don't wear your best clothes because this
is a massive tomato fight in the street and everyone gets smothered in
sloppy tomatoes.
La Tomatina

biggest food fight

No, we're
not stuck on Valencia but it is the city and region of Spain which is
the best to visit at present and has the most to see and do and has the
most events, for instance this year 2008 starts the city F1 Grand Prix
street circuit in Valencia, which will be one of the best thing's see in
Spain; and after the America's cup yachting event in 2007, it is
returning in 2009.
Now have a
look at this
No, you haven't been
transported to another planet, this is Valencia. The river used to flood
every couple of years so they diverted its course and in its place they
have created some of the most imaginative buildings and green space on
the planet Earth
These buildings contain,
concert halls, exhibition halls, auditoriums, aqua parks, huge
underwater marine exhibits, children's play areas and just space, yes-
space to relax and enjoy being alive.
You can ride on little
trains, hire a push bike, play in free areas, enjoy the sunshine and
take a gentle stroll in the heart of a wonderful city. This is just such
great entertainment in Spain.
