The Theatre in Spain
This is the only museum devoted exclusively to the history of theatrical activities in Spain.
Its collections represent a journey through the history of the theatre in Spain, from Greco-Roman theatre to the avant-garde movements of the 20th century, including medieval theatre, the Golden Age, Romanticism, zarzuela (Spanish folk opera) and opera. Of particular interest are the more than 8,000 works on paper, including stage and costume designs, drawings and prints. There are also collections of paintings, sculptures, photographs (over 25,000, from 1870 onwards), models, programmes and costumes (more than 2,000 articles of clothing, dating back to the late 18th century)
